CEDAR
Western CEDAR is Western’s open access institutional repository, and where information and research produced by the Western Washington University community can be searched, found, and shared. CEDAR stands for Contributing to Education through Digital Access to Research. Part of an innovative global movement promoting open access to information, research, and scholarship, Western CEDAR is a service of Western Libraries, in partnership with the Graduate School, Office of the Provost, and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. Western CEDAR advances Western’s commitment to enriching academic inquiry and strengthening communities by sharing the expertise, scholarship, and creativity of its students, faculty, and staff.
Western CEDAR as a Resource
For Content Creators
CEDAR is a wonderful resource for discovering the many publications produced by Western’s faculty, staff, and students. It is also a tool for finding local experts on a particular subject, or seeing the breadth of work done by faculty members. To learn more, check out the Western Experts page. Western students are also producing outstanding work and scholarship and CEDAR provides durable links to the works for sharing with future employers and graduate schools. For Faculty, Staff, and Students
- Do you have research or projects you want to share more widely with the university or the global community? The Western CEDAR team can help you determine if your content is a good fit for the repository, and can also help create pages to best display your materials.
- Are you trying to promote your college or department and the research they are producing? The CEDAR team can help gather together faculty and student open access publications into departmental collections.
- Western CEDAR also hosts branded faculty and staff pages which are displayed in the SelectedWorks Gallery, and each individual page lists, links to, or provides attachments of works produced, published, or presented by the faculty or staff member.
- Do you have content from a conference or event that you would like to share, or perhaps you are promoting a conference and want to see what was done last year? CEDAR contains a Conferences and Events Collection which currently includes Scholars Week, and the Salish Sea Ecosystem Conference, to name a few.
Notes on Copyright
Every work in Western CEDAR includes a statement about the copyright status of the work, which can be found at the bottom of the page. This may include the utilization of Creative Commons licenses or Rights Statements. Any questions about copyright and reuse of works in Western CEDAR can be directed to Western’s Copyright Librarian.
